In collaboration with the Department of Veteran’s Affairs (VA), the Veterans Initiative Project (VIP) operates an eight-bed transitional housing program for homeless veterans. The program is designed to give each resident an opportunity to stabilize their living environment while they explore employment opportunities, and obtain a more permanent living situation. Residents can stay for up to two years, rent-free as they work on their health and career goals. All aspects of the program are designed to give veterans an opportunity to become self-sufficient, and have an increased quality of life.
We want to help our veterans experiencing homelessness find greater self-determination, residential stability, and help them increase their skill level and income. As a Comprehensive Healthcare program, residents have access to a case manager who works closely with the VA to help connect residents with behavioral healthcare services if needed. Residents also receive a free membership to the YMCA once their physician allows, so they can work toward both physical and mental wellness.
