Welcome Mary Elsethagen, Vice President of Inpatient and Residential Services

Mary is the new Vice President of Inpatient and Residential Services at Comprehensive Healthcare, and comes to us from Greater Oregon Behavioral Health based in The Dalles, Oregon where she was the Senior Integrated Services Manager, overseeing the Utilization Management and Care Coordination teams. Mary has extensive behavioral health experience ranging from clinical roles in mental health and SUD treatment, to overseeing departments in management or director roles.

“I started as a therapist, and worked my way up,” says Mary.

She worked for a mental health agency for 12 years, spending the last four as assistant director with them before moving to the residential side of treatment, and was there for six years. For the last five years, Mary says she has been working more on the insurance-related side, and is excited to now be coming back to direct services.

Mary is originally from Southern California where she spent most of her childhood until her family moved to Kennewick when she was in high school. She went to Eastern Washington University where she got her Bachelor of Arts in Applied Psychology and her Masters in Psychology as well.

For most of the jobs she has had, Mary has had a one-hour commute or more, and will do so when she starts here with us as well since her home is in the Tri-Cities. For the past few years, she has worked from a home office, but Mary says she rather enjoys the windshield time as it’s a way for her to get some down time between work and home. She also enjoys family time, too. Her three kids are ages 11, 12, and 13, and her husband is an IT manager for Benton Franklin Health District. Family time and game nights with family and friends is a big part of her life—as is playing in the snow and incorporating fun activities into their lives. Mary also loves to read.

Mary says she was drawn to Comprehensive Healthcare because she has heard many positive things about our programs and staff. “I heard they have great quality programs and do great work-it is so great and encouraging. I want to continue the great work they are already doing and build on that.”
