CWU Dedicates Lounge to Comprehensive Healthcare

On May 30, 2025, Central Washington University (CWU) held a special dedication ceremony in the Psychology building to honor Comprehensive Healthcare for its instrumental role in reestablishing the university’s Mental Health Counseling (MHC) graduate program. In recognition of this meaningful partnership, CWU named a student lounge after Comprehensive Healthcare—a space designed to support and inspire the next generation of mental health professionals.

The dedication celebrated the creation of the Comprehensive Healthcare Fund, a generous contribution that made the program’s relaunch possible. This strategic collaboration addresses the urgent shortage of behavioral health professionals in Central Washington by building a long-term pipeline of highly trained counselors equipped to serve the community.

CWU will welcome its first cohort of 10 students into the revitalized program this fall. These future clinicians will receive a strong academic foundation and real-world clinical training, preparing them to meet the mental health needs of individuals and families across the region.

The event brought together leaders from both organizations. Comprehensive Healthcare was represented by President and CEO Jodi Daly, PhD; Board Vice Chair Ralph Conner; Director of Sunnyside and Kittitas Services Greg Aubol; OPII Supervisor, Therapist, and Designated Crisis Responder (DCR) Ali Corbett; Supervisor, Therapist, and DCR LaRee Born; and Chief of Staff Taylor Stormo. CWU’s leadership and faculty, along with members of the CWU Foundation Board, were also in attendance.

During her remarks, Jodi highlighted the significance of investing in the behavioral health workforce. “Access to mental health care begins with access to well-trained professionals,” she said. “This program ensures that students can learn, train, and eventually serve the very communities they call home.”

This dedication marks the beginning of a powerful collaboration between CWU and Comprehensive Healthcare, rooted in shared values and a deep commitment to improving mental health access and outcomes across the region.
