WHAT: A 7.5-hour class (2 hours independently on-line and 5.5 hours in a live virtual class) designed to teach anyone how to recognize and how to respond to an adolescent in distress or experiencing a mental health challenge.

GOALS: Preserve life when a person may be a danger to self or others, prevent mental health problems from becoming more serious, promote and enhance recovery, and provide comfort and support.

HOW: Receive education on signs and symptoms of mental disorders such as anxiety, depression, substance use, intentional self-injury, trauma, psychosis. Lean a  blueprint for providing comfort, reducing distress, and promoting recovery.

FOR WHOM: Anybody who regularly interacts with adolescents: school personnel, nurses, counselors, law enforcement, social service staff, customer service agents, clergy, retail workers, food service employees, public employees, parents, etc.

Youth Mental Health First Aid is specifically designed for  adults who serving youth.

NO COST Class, June 16, 8:30am to 2:30pm.

The class is virtual and attendance requires 2 hours of on-line pre-work. A camera is required for this class.

Attendees receive additional educational materials, a Mental Health First Aid handbook, and certificate of completion

This YMHFA class is offered at NO COST. The class is funded through a CCBHC grant. Class size is limited.
