Comprehensive Healthcare Expands Permanent Supportive Housing Resources in the Lower Yakima Valley

Yakima, Wash., October 5, 2023 – Permanent Supportive Housing continues to be a critical need in our community and Comprehensive Healthcare has announced the construction of their newest project: Vista Del Sol-2 (VDS-2). VDS-2 will be a 20-unit Permanent Supportive Housing facility for low-income adult individuals with a diagnosed chronic mental health condition which is expected to be of continual and indefinite duration. Adults living with such conditions have an affected ability to live independently in which their ability could be improved with supportive housing.

“This project will help meet the need, in Sunnyside and our surrounding communities, to support affordable housing, especially for those living with a chronic mental health condition and decrease the risk of homelessness for these individuals.” Says Jodi Daly, Ph.D., President, and CEO (Chief Executive Officer) of Comprehensive Healthcare. “We thank our community partners, City Council of Sunnyside, Yakima County Homeless Network, and Greater Columbia Behavioral Health for the substantial support they have given in order to make VDS-2 come to life.”

Comprehensive Healthcare was awarded a Department of Commerce Housing Trust Fund Loan of $5 Million for this project.

Construction has begun for VDS-2, adjacent to the first VDS 12-unit facility on East Parkland Dr., in which Concord Construction is working on the 20-unit facility that will provide long-term residential housing for at-risk clients as stated above.
